DDV Ranch Steers

See the beautiful steers at the DDV Ranch on this page.

What's New:

The area in which the DDV Ranch is located is facing an ongoing drought. The drought is the worst ever recorded in Texas history. Despite seeing rain in the area, we've seen very little at the ranch itself. Thus, we face serious issues growing grass and have two of our four ponds completely dry at this time. We hope for rain soon to refill the ponds, close the huge cracks in the land and get the grass back to its more natural green color.

Our Steers

Star Mickey:

Mickey moved to the ranch as a calf and in the first of two waves of animals who moved onto the ranch. Mickey is our friendliest steer and probably rates as the friendliest of all Longhorns on the ranch. He loves to be petted and hand fed.

Mickey will defend the ranch and all of the other animals in the herd. He was once seen defending the herd from a neighbor's bull who jumped the fence looking for some action. The neighbor later told me he had to work fast to save his bull from nearly certain death as Mickey made sure the unwelcome bull did not get near any of the other herd members. With his wide spread pointing nearly straight out, he definitely is well equipped to protect the ranch. Of course Redneck our herd sire will also protect the ranch.

DDV Oreo:

DDV Oreo is Tori's favorite Steer. He was born on her birthday to her delight. Oreo is both friendly to those who knows while being very protective of the young and females in the herd. He's a really beautiful Longhorn.
